Upon Arrival
NU Car Rentals service is provided in co-operation with Island Car Rental. Upon arrival please proceed to our rental counter located in the airport terminal. If valid flight information was not received at the time of booking the vehicle will be held for 2 hours after the arrival time stated in the reservation. Free delivery and pick up is available within 1 mile of our locations. Delivery or pick up is available at other locations with a nominal fee. Check with our agent for more information. Fees for the most popular locations are - Ocho Rios -45.00USD. Trelawny-25.00USD. Negril-40.00USD. Runaway Bay-35.00USD. Discovery Bay-35.00USD. Port Antonio-90.00 USD. Strawberry Hill-35.00USD. Whitehouse-75.00USD.
Insurance
3rd Party Liability Insurance is included in the rate. The renter is responsible for all damage or loss to the rental vehicle. This responsibility may be reduced or eliminated with the purchase of DVW - Damage to Vehicle Waiver. DVW is optional if the renter provides proof of insurance valid in Jamaica which covers damage to and loss of the rental vehicle. Credit card coverage is reimbursement to the renter and may not be valid in Jamaica. It is the renters responsibility to verify coverage. You are charged the full amount of loss or damage to the rental vehicle regardless of fault. It is the renters responsibility to pursue reimbursement from their provider. If the renter opts not to purchase DVW or provide proof of insurance a deposit for the entire cost of the vehicle will be taken. Nil coverage is not available to drivers under 23 years of age. Persons who are hearing impaired may not drive our vehicles as our insurers do not currently provide coverage. There are 2 options for DVW as follows - Economy Compact Intermediate - 15.00USD per day for 750.00USD deductible. Deposit is 750.00USD. 30.00USD per day for nil-zero deductible. Deposit is 250.00USD. Luxury car Fullsize car Standard SUV - 25.00USD per day 1900.00USD deductible 1900.00USD deposit 46.00USD per day nil-zero deductible 450.00USD deposit Vans Bus Premium SUV - 30.00USD per day 1900.00 deductible 1900.00USD deposit. 46.00USD per day 450.00 deductible 450.00USD deposit. WTPF-Windshield Tire Protection Fee is 4.00USD per day. PAI-Personal Accident Insurance is available for 7.00USD per day NOTE-All waivers become void if the rental contract is breached.
Special Equipment
Baby seats are available for 5.00USD per day. Left and Right Hand controls are not available. WIFI Hotspot is 14.00USD per day. Security deposit is 200.00USD. Availability is limited. Request at the rental counter.
Fuel
Rental vehicles are rented with a full tank of fuel and must be returned with a full tank or a refueling charge plus the cost of replacement fuel will apply.
One Way Rentals
Oneway rentals between Kingston & Montego Bay locations are available at no extra cost. Rental counter must be advised of drop at time of rental.
Geographic Restrictions
Rental vehicles may not be taken off the Island of Jamaica.
Driver Qualifications
Minimum age is 21 yrs-maximum 75 yrs. 21-22 yrs may rent Economy, Compact and Intermediate cars. 23-24 yrs may rent Standard size cars and SUV in addition to the above car classes. Drivers 25-75 yrs may rent Full, Luxury and Premium cars and SUVS in addition to vans and buses. Drivers under 23 years must have license for at least 3 yrs and drivers 23yrs-75yrs must have license 1 yr for cars and 3 yrs for vans buses and luxury SUVs. A General Drivers License is required to drive a bus. Drivers under 23yrs will be charged 6.00USD per day. One additional driver is free of charge - more additional drivers surcharge is 3.00USD per day per driver. All drivers must meet all rental requirements. All drivers must be listed on the rental agreement at the time of rental or the Insurance becomes null and void. Persons who are hearing impaired may not drive as our insurer does not currently provide coverage.
Credit Card Guarantees
If you have reserved a pay on arrival rental, a credit card guarantee is required in order to reserve a vehicle. This credit card will be validated at the time of reservation and may show a 1.00USD temporary authorization on your credit card statement. However, no actual guarantee fee will be incurred unless the Customer is a No Show; in which case a No Show fee equivalent to a one day rental or a minimum of 50.00USD will be charged to the credit card provided as a guarantee. If your plans change you can avoid this fee by cancelling your reservation through the same site on which you made your reservation at least 48 hours in advance of your scheduled rental time. If you reserved a Prepaid (Pay Now) reservation, you will be charged a Booking Fee equivalent to the total charges of your reservation. The Credit Card used for prepayment MUST be presented at the rental counter at time of pick up. This is a non-refundable reservation and may not be modified. If you do not pick up your rental when scheduled your reservation will be cancelled and you will not receive a refund or a credit.
Inclusive Rate Pkg
All taxes and fees are included in the rate. The CDW is also included in the rate. Renter will be responsible for the first 750USD for the ECAR, CCAR, ICAR or 1900USD for the FCAR LCAR SFAR PFAR SVAR FVMR.in case of damage or loss to the vehicle. Underage and additional driver fees as well as special equipment such as GPS and infant/child seats are not included in the rate.
Credit & Debit Card Policy
Renter must present a valid credit card in their own name at the time of rental. We accept all major credit cards including America Express Visa Mastercard Discover and others. Debit cards personal checks and cash payments are not accepted.
Legal Notice
NU Car Rentals provides a car rental affiliate reservation system and acts as an agent for the convenience of you the customer and the local owned and operated car rental firm. We use reasonable commercial efforts to insure the accuracy of all information posted on our website or distributed to other websites. Our liability, if any, shall be limited to the amount of rental charges paid to us. The terms, conditions and prevailing law covering the rental shall be those stated on the rental contract presented at the actual rental location.
Additional Information
When arriving via cruise ship in Montego Bay, please call Island Rent A Car at 952.5771 or 952.7225 from the Information Desk at the Pier. If you are using a phone with roaming, the area code is 876. As soon as we receive the call we will dispatch a driver to pick you up and take you to the airport office to collect your vehicle. Companies are not allowed to wait at the Cruise Ship Pier. There are no refunds for early returns. If you booked a Pay Now Special rate you will be charged in US dollars a non refundable deposit equivalant to the amount of the rental charges for the reserved period. Additional charges will be collected in local currency at the time of payment.
