Upon Arrival
NU Car Rentals Affiliate in Nicaragua is EC Rent A Car. Once you exit Baggage Claim turn left and proceed to the Rental Car Area and look for the EC Rent A Car counter. You will sign your rental agreement and then take our shuttle to your car located 2 minutes away. Please make sure to include your flight details at the time of booking so we have your car ready for you. If we did not receive your flight details and your plane was delayed past our hours of operation, which are 5:30 A.M. to 21:00 P.M., please call our 'After Hour's # 8688-1490 from within Nicaragua and we will be happy to assist you. Should you be calling from outside Nicaragua, the country code is 505. Vehicles are held up to 2 hours after the arrival time stated on your reservation.
Insurance
Should you choose NOT to purchase our Collision Damage Waiver you will be responsible for all damage to the rental vehicle. We offer two CDW options: A) SPECIAL CDW COVERAGE is $39.00USD per day for any car class. With this option we will waive our right to collect from you any monies for damage to the rental vehicle. This waiver also covers dents, scratches and collision with another vehicle including damage incurred to the vehicle due to a collision with a fixed object as well as tire and glass damage with a low deductible of 95.00USD per event. This waiver provides coverage for theft of 70 percent of the rental vehicle invoice price minus depreciation or 70 percent of any partial theft. B) Our second option is $26.00USD per day for any size vehicle. Your sole responsibility should you have an accident is for the following deductible: Economy, Compact, Intermediate & Standard Sedans - 500.00USD. For all other vehicles Renter's responsibility is $1000.00. This waiver provides theft coverage for 70% of the cost of the vehicle's invoice minus depreciation or 70% of partial theft. The purchase of Primary Liability Insurance - PLI is MANDATORY and costs $12.99USD per day. This coverage protects you against claims for injury you cause to third persons or their property. It does not cover injury to you or damage to the rental vehicle. Personal Accident Insurance - PAI is offered at $1.99 per day. Glass and Tire Protection is available at $3.99 per day.
Special Equipment
Baby, Toddler and Infant seats are available - $10.00/day or a maximum of $70.00/rental. GPS - $10.00/day, maximum $70.00/rental. Cell phone rentals - $5.00/day, maximum $30.00/rental. Request at the rental counter.
Fuel
All cars are provided with a full tank of fuel and should be returned with a full tank of fuel in order to avoid a locally determined refueling charge. Prepaid fuel options are available, please inquire at the rental counter at time of rental. Credit is not issued for unused fuel.
One Way Rentals
One-Ways are allowed between the Managua Airport and our office at San Juan de Sur in Rivas, Nicaragua. A drop fee of $60.00 will be charged at the drop off of the vehicle. The phone number of our location in San Juan de Sur is 25682760 /85742147.
Geographic Restrictions
Our rental vehicles are not allowed to leave the country of Nicaragua. Vehicles are only allowed to be driven on paved roads and driving on beaches is not permitted; to do so will void any insurance coverage.
Driver Qualifications
All drivers must present a valid Driver's License in his or her own name and a clean driving record. They must also present a major credit card in their own name at the time of rental. Renters from outside the United States must have a valid Drivers License from their country of residence. If their Driver's License is not in Roman Alphabet, they must have a valid International Driver's License and present their passport. We also require written proof of Liability Insurance covering injury to third parties or their property, as well as Collision and comprehensive insurance covering any and all damage to the Easy Rent A Car vehicle while on rent. Written proof must include the name and address of the insurer, as well as the policy number. In some countries outside of the United States, the purchase of Collision Damage Waiver or Liability/Supplemental Liability coverage may be mandatory. Please make sure to read the Insurance Coverage Keyword for details and your responsibility in the case of an accident or injury. Additional Drivers must meet the same requirements as the Renter. One additional driver is permitted. A 3rd or 4th additional driver will be charged an additional driver surcharge of $5.00 per day. Drivers must be 25 years of age. If the renter is between the ages of 21 and 24, an additional Underage Surcharge of $10.00 per day will apply.
Credit Card Guarantees
If you have reserved a pay on arrival rental, a credit card guarantee is required in order to reserve a vehicle. This credit card will be validated at the time of reservation and may show a 1.00USD temporary authorization on your credit card statement. However, no actual guarantee fee will be incurred unless the Customer is a No Show; in which case a No Show fee equivalent to a one day rental or a minimum of 50.00USD will be charged to the credit card provided as a guarantee. If your plans change you can avoid this fee by cancelling your reservation through the same site on which you made your reservation at least 48 hours in advance of your scheduled rental time. If you reserved a Prepaid (Pay Now) reservation, you will be charged a Booking Fee equivalent to the total charges of your reservation. The Credit Card used for prepayment MUST be presented at the rental counter at time of pick up. This is a non-refundable reservation and may not be modified. If you do not pick up your rental when scheduled your reservation will be cancelled and you will not receive a refund or a credit.
Inclusive Rates
If you purchased an Inclusive Rate Package please note that Collision Damage Waiver-CDW, Theft Waiver, SLI- Supplemental Liability Insurance as well as Taxes and Fees ARE included in your rate. Please note CDW has a 500.00USD deductible. Not included are Fuel, any Underage Driver Fee or Additional Driver Fee and Special Equipment such as baby seats and GPS or any other available options.
Credit & Debit Card Policy
We accept American Express, Visa and Master Cards. A security deposit will be held at the start of the rental. It will include the estimated amount of the rental and $500 for the mini car, economy, compact and intermediate sedan and $1000.00 for all other cars. Eligible Debit cards are accepted at the time of rental and must have a MasterCard or Visa Logo. The estimated amount of the rental plus an additional amount held as security will be assessed against your debit card at the time of rental. These funds will no longer be available for your immediate use and may take up to 30 days (depending on your bank)to become available. We will not be responsible for any returned checks, insufficient fund charges or bank fees related to this process. Debit Card Security for mini, economy, compact or intermediate size sedans is $500.00. All other vehicles is $1500.00. Cash is not accepted for qualification at the time of rental but may be used for payment upon return of the vehicle. A major Credit Card or Debit Card is still required to qualify. Vouchers and prepaid cards are not accepted.
Legal Notice
NU Car Rentals provides a car rental affiliate reservation system and acts as an agent for the convenience of you the customer and the local owned and operated car rental firm. We use reasonable commercial efforts to insure the accuracy of all information posted on our website or distributed to other websites. Our liability, if any, shall be limited to the amount of rental charges paid to us. The terms, conditions and prevailing law covering the rental shall be those stated on the rental contract presented at the actual rental location.
Additional Information
If you booked a Pay Now Special rate you will be charged in US dollars a nonrefundable deposit equivalent to the amount of the rental charges for the reserved period. Charges will appear on your statement as NU Car Rentals Website San Antonio, TX. Additional charges will be collected at rental in local currency A rental day consists of a 24 hour period. Changes to the reservation may result in a change of rate or an additional fee. There are no refunds for early returns. If After hours returns are permitted the renter will be billed to the start of the next business day and is responsible for the rental vehicle until inspected by a company representative. Please inquire at the rental counter for further details. Note there is no shuttle service available outside hours of operation Reservations for multiple vehicles must be made in different names or may not be honored. Smoking in vehicles or returning the vehicle where special cleaning may incur an additional fee per local policy. Makes and models are examples only and are not guaranteed.
